CitizenRE:

A House of Cards?

A Rebuttal to the CitizenRE model.

Looking down Mary's driveway from the house

Mary's House, Dogs, Momo and Abby, the puppy

The Chicken Coop, flock perished

Full set of china had been in shed

You can see charred support where deck burned

Tree next to Play House started to burn

You can see how close the trees were, shingles melted

Below garden, Blackberry patch returns to life

Looking up Mary's driveway from Bridge

Pine and fir are dead, maples are returning

All wood on steel framed bridge burned

We had an early start so Mary made egg & bagels for breakfast

Gene and Rick start replacing RR ties while Jer and Mike work on under supports

Working along as the day got hot, no shade now

Rebuilding supports

Dad gathering creek rock for supports

Getting close to having deck done

Derek and Dad use rebar to reinforce fence posts holding fence for rock supports

Several trips to local quarry for rock, dumped through opening in bridge deck

Lots of rock needed for supports

Mary and Tamra cleaning burned brush from creek

Tamra, Mary and Tookie

Tamra and Gavin, Mike's son

Tookie clearing brush, everybody worked

Mary, up the creek, but still smiling

We form a line to move creek rocks to bridge supports

Then we move to other side of bridge and do the same

A lot of rock is moved into position

Dad is, of course, in the thick of it

Ethan lends his strength when needed

The Jarschke Girls show off their muscles after a day of bridge building

We sit down to a wonderful dinner that evening

This is me under the bridge, I put this in so you could see how much I look like Mom.

Derek under bridge, you can see the support rebuild.

The bridge deck foundation in place, Jer will do the finish work, bolting on 2 x 12 runners

At Dad's house the fire came very near his truck

Pine needles in the gutter actually caught fire and were put out by the firefighters

You can see the rippeddown, burned part of the gutter above Tamra's head

The trees next to Dad's shed were scorched, but he had cleared the ground around the house and sheds, making them defensible

The burned fence looking through to his neighbor's, which was not defensible

Just over the fence from Dad

Down Concow Rd a ways where Dad gets his mail

Bridge deck in place

Looking down to bridge from Mary's house

Mary drives to her house for the first time since the fire. This will make it much easier to haul water

The forest on Mary's driveway

Signs all along Concow Rd

This one's for you Auntie Bea, their house was saved

This guy across the street from Dad's always left his Nativity scene out all year long. After the fire he took Mary and Baby Jesus inside, turned the manger backwards. He placed all the toy trucks around and hooked up a hose so the pumper truck was squirting water on the little house. His house was saved also.
